Remembering Feb 3rd Icons

Hi Folks, well we are now just starting Feb 2017, Now this is the time of year that we remember some very famous and missed members of the music industry,  On Feb 3rd 1959 , Buddy Holly,
Richie Valence, The Big Bopper, Were all killed in a plane crash,
on Feb 3rd 1967, The legendary Joe Meek died, And on Feb 4th 1983, Karen Carpenter Died aged 32 of a heart attack,

These Icons were great musical assets to the music industry and are considered a great loss to the music world,

On the 3rd of Feb 2017, There is going to be a memorial gig to celebrate the 50 years since Joe Meek Died.

Simply Retro Update

Hi  Folks, Yes Simply Retro Classic Cover Band have finally started to get off the ground after a shed load of setbacks,  Now the gigs have started to flow in , Their music is superb, A mixture of 50s, 60s, & 70s Rock & pop but no disco, The band recently did a spot at the Crisis charity event at the Blackheath Wanderers sports club on the 28th of September 2016,  They have got a vast list of music that will take you back in time and refresh your memory about the good old days of music !

Mike Berry sings on the voice

Well, I just watched the voice (awful program) and Mike Berry sang a Buddy Holly song (true love ways ) and at the age of 73, He sounded great, The singer/Actor made his first record with Joe Meek called ( A tribute to Buddy Holly ) back in the early 1960s, Mike was along with many more artists, One of Mr Meek's Recording artist with a big voice, He also had a part in the sitcom Are you being served ,

And it was Chas Hodges who persuaded him to go on the voice program, Although Mike has nothing to prove, He is still a great Singer !

Remembering Feb 3rd ( Joe Meek Buddy Holly Richie Valence Big Bopper )

Hi, It is that time of year that we musicians and music lovers alike, Remember  the anniversary of  Joe Meek Who died on Feb 3rd 1967 & also Buddy Holly, Richie Valence & The Big Bopper who all died in a plane crash on Feb 3rd 1959

I have recorded my own version of Telstar just to show my respect for Joe Meek ,  All these iconic folk will be remembered for ever, R.I.P  Great souls !

The recording was done in my mini studio using analogue reel to reel at 15 ips on 4 track . Nice to know that analogue is not dead and has indeed been revived in many recording studio's.
