I am so sad to say that David Bowie died on Sunday 9th Jan, He was 69 ,He will be sadly missed by us all and in the music industry alike ,
DAVID BOWIE , The man was an Icon in his own right, He was a great performer / Singer /Songwriter / Actor who came to fame in 1969 with his song Space oddity , It was an instant hit , From that moment on, He inspired many musicians & Singers alike ! On Monday this week , The news about him was a shock not only to me, But to all his fans, He was ill from cancer for 18 months & although he did not look that well for quiet some time, No one realised that he was dieing . David gave us a lot of pleasure with his fab music and great outfits of clothing and makeup, He was one of a kind that can never be replaced. His Music and his memory will live on forever !
David Robert Jones (8 January 1947 – 10 January 2016), known as David Bowie was an English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, arranger, painter and actor. He was a figure in popular music for over five decades, and was considered by critics and other musicians as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. Bowie stopped concert touring after 2004, and last performed live at a charity event in 2006. In 2013, he returned from a decade-long recording hiatus, remaining musically active until his death from liver cancer three years later.
Born and raised in south London, Bowie developed an interest in music while at school where he excelled at playing the recorder. As a youth, he enjoyed listening to Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers, the Platters, Fats Domino, Elvis Presley and Little Richard, among others. Bowie's musical abilities broadened beyond the recorder when he took up the ukulele and he began to participate in skiffle sessions with friends. When he left school he studied art, music and design, and learned how to typeset. He became fluent on the saxophone in 1962 and formed his first band, that year, at the age of 15. He embarked on a professional career as a musician in 1963, and received his first management contract shortly afterwards. "Space Oddity" became his first top five entry on the UK Singles Chart after its release in July . David Bowie went on to be one of the worlds biggest pop artist with many records under his belt like Let's Dance, Rebel Rebel , and many more.
He even had his own special Mini !

He was also in a band in the 1960s called The Riot Squad, Which was one of Joe Meek's Bands that recorded at 304 Holloway Road , London N7.
I can remember when I lived in Southend Lane SE6, in 1969, 2 young girls knocked on my door thinking it was where David Bowie lived, In fact he lived in a street in Beckenham not fat from me, They were confused with where I lived .
One of his hit's was called The laughing gnome ,
It was a hit but only small compared with Space oddity which was a huge hit !
